One More Camp (pt 1 of 4)-Live in the moment

PART 1 of 4

Almost one month ago I wrote about M.Y. Camp and how wonderful it was. I also spoke about hockey camps and rugby camps and how all the hustle and bustle was coming to an end. However, life never seems to end with hustle and bustle. It was just a little under 2 months ago that I had the privilege and opportunity to begin my adventure for the very first time with CORE. CORE is a program at Nepean High School in Ottawa, Ontario conceived and ran by an exceptional leader, creator, and teacher, Mr. Jon Tenthorey (Mr. T). This is a program that takes young people and pushes them to their limits in order to help them develop their passions, their character, essentially who they are at the core of their being.

Why did it take me almost 2 months to write about this experience? Reflection. I had to reflect on this experience, let it sit and let it brew for a while. Man has it brewed!

Day one brought us to Bancroft where the entire group, nearly 100 people, were literally dropped off at the side of the road, given a journal, a pencil, and told to get packing. Before the journey began though Mr. T had one message-live in  the moment, appreciate the moment, enjoy the here and now. This got a few of the participants wondering what he meant. Could here and now be possible to think about when the end had to be right around the corner? Listen in as Mr. T talks and ask yourself how often do you do this in your everyday life?

How often do we stop and really sock in the moment? How often do we think about what we are doing instead of what we will be doing? Is it good or is it bad that most of us always live in the future, looking ahead to only find out what is coming next?

Thoughts? Comments?
